OUR HISTORY

In the mid-1970s, the site where the hotel now stands was a farm that housed the studio of the ceramist and architect João Calazans, better known as “Calá.”

In addition to being one of the pioneers in exploring the region (where electricity arrived in 2000), Calá conceived a style that combines charm with simplicity: Mediterranean architecture blended with the beauty and colors of Bahia. All this creativity bore fruit, making it the cover of Living in Bahia in 2008, a book by the prestigious publisher Taschen.

The buildings are made with reclaimed wood and burned cement, the ceramic decorations are crafted by Calá himself, and the decorative handicrafts produced in the region continue to inspire generations of architects and decorators worldwide.

HOW TO GET HERE?

The nearest airport for commercial flights is Porto Seguro (BPS). There is also a small landing strip next to the Outeiro das Brisas Condominium, about a 15-minute drive from the hotel, which serves private planes and helicopters. Arriving by helicopter is an excellent opportunity to appreciate the Discovery Coast’s landscape from a panoramic view.

It is also possible to arrive by boat or speedboat, depending on the departure location. The sea view of the coast, filled with preserved natural vegetation, colorful cliffs, and nearly untouched reefs, is a sight in itself.

For our guests, we can arrange accredited taxis with trusted drivers who provide transfers from the airport to the hotel and vice versa or to any other location in the region they wish to visit. Another option is to rent a car and explore the area independently. Please note that much of the access to the hotel is via dirt road, so we recommend renting higher cars, 4×4, or off-road vehicles for a more comfortable and safe journey.
