Calá & Divino supports the “Back to Porto do Boi” project, which seeks to revive the Pataxó Cultural Center of Porto do Boi on the Discovery Coast, aiming to empower indigenous peoples. The Porto do Boi village is located 30 minutes from the village of Caraíva, accessible by buggy or boat.
The experience in the village covers a large part of the culture and daily life of a Pataxó village, offering a perfect opportunity to reconnect with the ancestry of native Brazilian people and nature. The experience includes a traditional lunch – fish cooked in patioba leaves – and, after lunch, everyone remains silent to witness the Awê ritual, which includes prayers, songs, and dances. After the ritual, guests can bathe in the Caraíva River before returning to the village or heading to Ponta de Corumbau beach. The available times for this experience are Monday to Friday (9 AM to 12 PM or 2 PM to 4 PM) and Saturday (9 AM to 12 PM).
In addition to the village experience, guests can participate in the full moon ritual, an example of harmony and connection with nature and its phases. The ritual consists of greeting the moon’s rise through the Awê and concludes with a traditional celebratory meal. The ritual lasts approximately 3 hours. The schedule for this experience is available upon request.
For the village experience, a water transfer (boat or speedboat) is also available. For the full moon ritual, however, boat/speedboat transfers are not possible. See the boat/speedboat tour options.
